Good to hear i'm not the only unbalanced bowler lol. Don't know if I could change it now, been bowling like that since i started.

You can change it and at least theory it shouldn't wreck your game too bad. First question is are you left or right handed?

OK that makes things a lot easier. Now for the tricky question how many steps do you take

If I remember right my dad said 5, but i've never felt the need to count, so not sure. I walk up there pretty fast lol.

If you do 5 then your second step your ball should start moving, just let the weight of the ball move your arm.

The reason I ask is because it makes a difference on when you should start moving the ball, all this is so we can get your balance at the end of your approach

Well, I can't tell you exactly, but 5 is my guess. I'm not bowling again till sunday so we'll have to go by that.

I haven't really noticed when I start moving the ball, i'll have to keep that tip in mind.

I have never tried to correct myself Ryan and I've bowled like that for almost 17 years now.

Yeah, I don't really want to to be honest, as I'm so used to the way I bowl.

Sorry Astroth, I have a hard time with communication, both real life, and on the internet. I didn't want to change my style, but you seemed willing to help, so I listened. I don't think i'll be able to duplicate what you tell me, without you actually being there to show me.

I think i'll just keep bowling the way i am now. Not like i'll ever be a pro anyway lol.

Just trying to get you so your deliver the ball the sameway or at least as close as possible every time, which will improve your overall game.

To be a pro the last I heard you needed to average 200+ for like a year or more plus pay the fee, go to a school I believe and travel a lot, even as a regional pro, more trouble then its worth in my book.

That said if you get word of a Pro-Am tournament with like the pro's you see on tv check it out and see if they can help or even ask the center if they have a person that gives lessons and explain you want to get more constant delivery.

That said if you have any questions just ask, I grew up in a bowling center so know a lot about the game, not to mention I've been bowling since I was able to walk and carry a 8lb ball

Ok, thanks for the help Astroth, I appreciate it. I'm more of a person who needs to be shown how to do something before I can figure it out, so i'll have to get lessons if I decide i want to get serious. Or i'll have to travel to Arizona and see what you can do LOL.

hey J you sound like me I started bowling when I was 5 lol. Me and those mean arse bumbers in the lanes you know. Man some days I wish I still had those in the lanes when I throw a gutter or two.

I've actually been a lifelong bowler too lol. Just don't take it as seriously as most veterans do, I just love to do it for the fun of it.

Bumpers the lazy means of learning. When I started bumpers didn't exist, half lane between the legs.

Even did the in school bowling deal, though not sure whatever happened to it here.

I bowl during the winter one night a week and have fun, set a relatively easy goal for myself every week, bowl my average, if I do great if I don't so what its not that big of a deal to me.

Really, I didn't know there once wasn't bumpers. Kids now a days abuse those now, not really a helpful way to help kids learn, they think its fun to bounce it off the rails.

My school has the bowling thing as well, never did it, but my school always seemed to have a pretty good bowling team.

I try to bowl once or twice every week all year round. I do sometimes get a little frustrated during a bad game, gotta work on the "so what" part.

Wait J they didn't have bumpers in your day? I did the bowling thing for school too. I need to get going bowling again sometime but with work not being set hours it makes it hard, also living in a town where I know no one that bowls at the alley that is 2 mins from my place makes things hard too.

Heck the rails that are more common form of bumpers are even newer, the ones started with were big air bags that sat in the gutter, mind that was still after I started with the whole meat paper and a mat across the pin end of the paper.

If could get into a league BB that would help but as you said the fact you have a unstable work schedule

Yes and not knowing anyone on the league could be hard too get on a team.

To a degree yes and to a degree no. The issue actually becomes more of personality conflicts then anything. My team over the years have had people I know and didn't know on it but for the most we all get along with each other fine.

So it wouldnt be too big of a problem if i go in to join and dont know a single person there you think? Thats my only thing that makes me go ehhh..

Yes it helps to know folks sure but even if you don't but manage to get with a good team, heck for all you know the team you get on until that night they never knew each other so they would be in the same boat

Yep there is only one way to find out. If it doesn't work out this year you don't have to bowl the same team next year
